1. Census in 1940 in Shippensburg, Cumberland, PA. 3 The 1940 census recorded at 1 South Earl Street: Howard Frengel, road construction laborer, 25, living with wife Mertal, machine operator in textile factory, 26; and son Ernest, 4. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania.

2. Newspaper: Shippensburg News-Chronicle: Two Are Indicted In Morals Case Wednesday, 9 May 1941, Shippensburg, Cumberland, PA. 4 Howard Frengel and Dale Angle, both of town, were indicted by the Cumberland county grand jury on Wednesday afternoon on morals charges. The jury brought true bills against Frengel on 3 of 4 counts and against Angle on 12 of 14 counts.
The cases were presented by District Attorney Ray T. Harrigan, Chief of Police E. J. Hunter and State Motor police. The cases will be placed on the calendar for the session of court which opens Monday.

Carlisle, Sept. 16 - Howard Frengel, 25, Shippensburg, was found guilty in criminal court here on one of two charges of assualt of a 14-year-old Shippensburg girl.
The jury, which deliberated an hour, convicted him of assault and battery and assualt and battery wit intent to ravish. The two counts were embraced in a single charge. They acquited him of a statuatory charge.
Dale Engle, Shippensburg, arrested last spring entered a plea of guilty to four morals offenses, each involving two countys. District Attorney Ray T. Harrigan said four other cases against him will be nol prossed.

4. Newspaper: Shippensburg News-Chronicle: Frengel Found Guilty Monday; Angle Pleads, 16 Sep 1941, Shippensburg, Cumberland, PA. 6 Dale M. Angle of Shippensburg pleaded guilty to two serious charges Monday morning in Cumberland county court. Other charges against him, all growing from a morals investigation here last spring, were nolle prossed.
Howard Frengel, arraigned with Angle, was found not guilty to charges of being an accessory to the crimes to which Angle pleaded guilty, but was found guilty on one serious charge. No sentences have been announced in the case.

Reese in Cumberland county court sentenced Dale Angle, 30, Shippensburg, to seven and one-half to fifteen years in the Eastern Penitentiary on charges involving ten girls, and Howard Frengel, Shippensburg, implicated with him, must serve eighteen months to three years.

Frengel Is Returned, 12 Jun 1942, Shippensburg, Cumberland, PA. 9 Howard Frengel, Shippensburg, who was sentenced from Cumberland county last September to the Eastern Penitentiary, was returned to the county prison Tuesday from the penitentiary in Philadelphia to complete his sentence of one and a half to three years for criminal assault. Such transfers are made periodically to avoid over crowding at the penitentiary, prision officials at Carlisle pointed out.

9. Newspaper: New Castle News: Howard Frengel Dies While Driving, 25 Sep 1968, New Castle, Lawrence, PA. 2 Howard Frengel, 51, of 1030 Court St., died of an apparent heart attack while driving his car at 9:15 p.m. yesterday, state police said.
Police said he was dead on arrival at St. Francis Hospital.
Mr. Frengel was driving north on Cleland Mill Rd. when he suffered the attack and collapsed at the wheel. The car went off the west berm and collided with a tree at the intersection with Covert Rd.
Mr. Frengel was born in New Castle Sept. 19, 1917 to the late Ralph and Ida Smith Frengel. He was married in 1953 to the former Catherine Fugas. He was employed by the Sharon Steel Corp. as a controller of air pollution at the plant in Sharon.
He attended local schools, was active in city and county baseball activities and was a member of the Umpires Association.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Ernest of Shippensburg, Pa., and Thomas of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Renee, at home; a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Helen) Augustyn of New Castle; a brother, Louis, of New Castle; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Margaret and Mrs. Alice Crum.
The family will receive friends at the Noga Funeral Home, S. Mill and E. Reynolds streets, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
A blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home followed by interment in Oak Park Cemetery.
