Obituary: Statesville Record and Landmark: Beeker, 81, Dies on 22 Oct 1973 in Statesville, Iredell, NC. ¹ John Calvin Beeker, 81, of Mountain Road, route 1, Cleveland, died Sunday at 7:06 a.m, at Veterans Hospital in Salisbury. He had been seriously ill for three weeks, He was born Nov. 28, 1891, in Rowan County and was a son of the late John Henry and Annie Hill Beeker. A retired furniture worker and a World War I veteran, he was married on June 5, 1921, to the former Florede Bollinger, who survives.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons, J. C. Beeker, Jr., of Mooresville, Thomas L. Beeker of Rockwell and Benny Ray Beeker of Salisbury; two daughters, Mrs. Earl Overcash of China Grove and Mrs. Ned Freeze of Salisbury; three brothers, W. S. Beeker and A. C. Beeker, both of Salisbury, and H. H. Beeker of Durham; five sisters, Mrs. Mae Childers of Mooresville, Mrs. Blanche Kendrlck of Charlotte, Mrs. Ann Porter of Salisbury, Mrs. Ruth Lentz of Rockwell and Mrs. Hallie Hartman of Kannapolis; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Cleveland Baptist Church with. Rev. Kenneth Hyde officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body will remain at Bunch Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:30 to 9 p.m. today.
