Bruce Franklin Beacher, Billings, Mont., son of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Beacher, Allentown, and Miss Betty Marguerite Strayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nevin Strayer, 1038 West Market street, will be united in marriage this morning at 11 o'clock. The ceremony will take place in St. Matthew's Lutheran church and the single ring ceremony will be performed by Rev. Dr. J. B. Baker. The bride will have Miss Evelyn Work, Uniontown, as her maid of honor, and the bridesmaids will be Mrs. Robert Wolfe and Dorcas Hoke. The groom will have as his best man, his brother, John H. Beacher, Allentown. The ushers will be another brother, Robert L. Beacher, and Alden K. Horn, both of Allentown. The bride will be attired in a gown of white slipper satin with a high neckline and long pointed sleeves. A row of buttons will run down the back to a V-waist line. She will carry a Bible and an orchid in a shower and her finger tip veil will be of a sweetheart shape. She will also wear a gold brooch which was her great grandmother's. The maid of honor will be attired in a floor-length gown of peacock blue of file material with velveteen jackets and hats to match. Her flowers will be yellow roses and mixed flowers. The bridesmaids will be attired in gowns of American Beauty rose color and will carry old fashioned bouquets of Better Times roses and white flowers. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Alden K. Horn, will give a short organ recital. Her numbers will be: 'Tales From Vienna Woods,( (Strauss) ; "Caprice Vennoise, (Fritz Crisler); "Song To An Evening Star," from "Tannhauser, and Pleyel's "Hymn." For the processional she will play Bridal Song," from "Lohengrin," ' and for the recessional, Mendelssohn's "Wedding March," from "Midsummer Night's Dream." .Following a short wedding trip the newly married couple will reside at Billings, Mont., where the groom is employed by the federal government in the Bureau of Reclamation. The bride graduated from the West York High school in 1936 and Penn State college in 1940. The groom graduated from Penn State in 1939.

Miss Betty Marguerite Strayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nevin W.
Strayer, 1038 West Market street became the bride of Bruce Franklin Beacher, of Billings, Mont., son of and Mrs. Benjamin. F. Beacher, of Allentewn, this morning at 11 o'clock in St. Matthew's Lutheran church.
The ceremony was performed by the pastor, the Rev. J. B. Baker in the presence of guests from this city, Allentown, Coatesville, Bristol, Pottstown, Baltimore and Harrisburg.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a beautiful gown of white slipper satin. The tight bodice with a V waistline front and back featured long sleeves ending in points over the hands. The long full skirt fell into a train. The neck was cut high and was finished with a small round lace collar. Her finger tip length tulle veil fell from a coronet of shirred tulle. She carried a white Bible with an orchid and a shower of lilies of the valley.
Miss Evelyn Work, of Uniontown, a roommate of the bride at college, was the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Dorcas Hoke and Mrs. Robert Wolf. They wore dresses fashioned alike of faille with short sleeves and close fitting velveteen jackets. Their headdresses were coronets of the shirred velvet to match their dresses and edged in lace. Miss Work's frock was peacock blue and Miss Hoke and Mrs. Wolf's dresses were American Beauty color. The bridesmaids, carried old fashioned Better Times roses and white flowers and Miss Work's bouquet was yellow roses and pompons.
Mr. Beacher had his brother, John Beacher, of Allentown, for his best man.
Serving as ushers were Robert Beacher, another brother and Alden Horn, of Allentown. The altar was tastefully decorated with white flowers and ferns.
While the wedding guests were assembling, Mrs. Alden Horn, of Allentown, tine sister of the bridegroom, played wedding music. Her program was: "The Song to an Evening Star", (Wagner); "Tales from Vienna Woods", (Strauss); "Plegel Hymn" and "Caprice Vennoise", (Kreisler). For the processional she played "The Bridal Chorus" from "Lohengrin" and for the recessional Mendelssohn's "Wedding March."
After the ceremony, Mr. Beacher and his bride left on a week-end trip. They will return to York before going to their home in Billings, Mont. The bride is a graduate of the 1940 class of Penn State college and is member of Chi Omega sorority. Mr.
Beacher was graduated in 1939, from Penn State college and he is a member of the Alpha Zete fraternity. He has a position with the government in the Bureau Reclamation as a soils technologist.

The bride had as her maid of honor and bridesmaids sorority sisters from the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, Penn State chapter. John H. Beacher, entomologist of Newark, Del., was his brother's best man. Ushers were also brothers, B. D. Beacher of Salladasburg and Robert L. Beacher, a student at Penn State, and the third, Alden K. Horn, a brother-in-law. Mrs. Beacher was graduated from Pennsylvania State college in 1940. She is a member of Alpha Chi Omega and has been teaching French in Allentown, Pa. Mr. Beacher, who graduated from Allentown High school with the class of 1935, played baritone in the Allentown High school band and was a member of the National Honor Society. He received his degree from the agronomy department of Penn State in 1939. While at college he played in the Blue Band and was a member of Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Zeta fraternities. Mr. Beacher returned East on Sept. 17 from Billings, Montana, where he Is stationed as a soil technologist for the United States Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Reclamation. Following a reception in a York hotel, the couple left on an extended tour of the Western states. They are visiting in western Pennsylvania and then going to Colorado and New Mexico. After Oct. 13, the Beachers will be at home in Billings, Montana.

Betty, popularly known as "Cherie", was born in York, the daughter of Nevin W. and Margaret Wolfe Strayer.

She attended the West York public schools and majored in education at Penn State and the University of Maryland. She taught in the Maryland public schools in Montgomery County and continued tutoring after retirement in 1969.

She was an active member of Chi Omega, church choirs in Silver Spring, Md., St. Matthews Lutheran Church in York, and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Biglerville, Gettysburg Woman's Club, Gettysburg College Auxiliary Sub League, Friends of the Library, American Red Cross, Biglerville Garden Club, Upper Adams Homemakers, Penn State and Maryland University alumnae associations, Lutheran Women's organizations, the Gettysburg and Biglerville Historical Societies, and the Pennsylvania German Society. She also served as a volunteer worker at the National Apple Museum in Biglerville.

Mrs. Beacher is survived by a son, Dr. Brent F. Beacher of Hamilton, Ohio; a daughter, Deborah B. Tipeni of Sterling, VA; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Following cremation, private graveside services will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Allentown.

Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Biglerville or Friends of the Library in Gettysburg.
