She was born in Lebanon, a daughter of the late John and Agnes Biecher Lerch, and was a member of Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Church in Myerstown.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Houser and children Judith, wife of Carl Houser, Myerstown RD 3; Ann Brown, Bethel RD 1; Loretta, wife of Luther Mathias, Bernville; Edward, Hummelstown; and Michael and Timothy, both of Myerstown RD 1. A fourth daughter, Dorothy Benfer, died in 1981. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mary married Lloyd W. Houser. (Lloyd W. Houser was born on 29 Apr 1920,⁴ died on 25 Dec 1987 ⁴ and was buried in Anville: Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Lebanon, PA ⁴.)
