12. Obituary: Lebanon Daily News on 5 Feb 1910 in Lebanon, Lebanon, PA. 13 Death at an early hour this morning relieved the sufferings of Mrs. Elizabeth Ulrich, widow of the late Captain John Ulrich, of 217 Walnut Street. Mrs. Ulrich had been in failing health for several years, but her condition became critical about a week ago. Since that time friends and relatives were constantly in attendance upon her, but the most tender nursing and the most devoted medical attention was unavailing.

She was of very portly build, and was afflicted with asthma and a complication of diseases. For a long time she was unable to assume a reclining posture, and was confined most of the time to a big reclining chair, from which she rested with an arm almost constantly on a nearby table. It was in this position that the end came this morning.

Mrs. Ulrich was 81 years of age, and was one of the oldest native residents of Lebanon. She was born and reared in this city, her father, the late Mr. Beicher having been an extensive property owner in the city and county. The family resided for many years on Seventh Street, in the rear of the William Penn hotel, in the house which is now occupied by a coach making works.

It was here that she became associated with Mr. and Mrs. H. I. Daugherty and since that time they were closet of friends. Mrs. Daugherty was almost constantly at the side of her friend during her last illness.

Mrs. Ulrich was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and was a devoted attendant there during her healthy days. She was widely known, and was universally respected, and her demise has cast a pall of gloom over a wide circle of friends.

She is survived by five children as follows: Mrs. Mary Brensinger, who lived with her mother; Tobias, a clerk at the Eagle Hotel, who also lived at home; Mrs. John Reed and Henry Ulrich, of Harrisburg, and John Ulrich, of California. Mrs. Reed, was notified early in the week of the serious illness of her mother, and was here ever since, being at home when the summons came this morning.
