Newspaper: Mount Carmel Item: Kehler - Mount Carmel Girl Married, 1 Dec 1936, Mount Carmel, Northumberland, PA. ² Miss Betty Gallagher, of Mount Carmel, and William "Jake" Kehler, of Merriam, were united in marriage by Father Cyril Allwein, of the Church of Our Lady, of this city. The attendants were Miss Marie Gallagher, a sister of the bride, and creorge Kehler, a brother of the bridegroom. The bride wore a Queen Mary, blue velvet dress with silver accessories. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, while the bridesmaid wore a wine colored velvet dress, with silver accessorles and carried a bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums. The bride is the daughter of the Honorable Daniel Gallagher, of this city.
The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Matthew Boyce, of Merriam. He is employed at the Locust Summit Breaker. After the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Frances Gallagher, of this city. Patrick, Michael and Anthony Gallagher, uncles of the bride, served as ushers.

The newly-wedded couple will reside at the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Boyce, of Merriam.

Obituary: Pottsville Republican: obituary of William Kehler on 7 Aug 1950 in Pottsville, Schuylkill, PA. ¹ William Kehler, 39, lifelong resident of Merriam, and vice president of the Social Civic Club, Mt. Carmel, died in Ashland Hospital Saturday evening. He was stricken with a heart attack Friday morning and admitted to the hospital at one o'clock Friday afternoon. He was employed at the Locust Summit Central Breaker and was in apparent good health when he retired Thursday evening. Born in Mount Carmel, he was a son of the late August and Clara Knerr Boyce Kehler, and when a youth his family removed to Merriam. He was educated in the schools of Mt. Carmel Township and when in his teens began as a slate picker at the Locust Gap Colliery and following its abandonment he received employment at Locust Summit Central Breaker. He was a member of the Eagles of Mt. Carmel.
Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth Gallagher, whom he was married on Nov. 25, 1936; one son, Francis, at home; two brothers, Charles and George, Mt. Carmel, and one sister, Mrs. Joseph Visotski, Merriam. Funeral from the Higgins Funeral Home, Mt. Carmel, Tuesday afternoon. Services will be conducted by the Rev. E. B. Harris, Mt. Carmel, and burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carmel.
