Lewisburg - John Walls Bucher, 87, retired Lewisburg banker, died Monday afternoon Feb 7, 1955, in the Mercer Sanatorium at Mercer where he had been a patient for several years. He resided at 43 Market Street.

A native of Lewisburg, he was born June 18, 1867 the son of Joseph C. and Mary Ellen Walls Bucher.

He served as cashier for the Lewisburg National Bank for more than 25 years, retiring in 1929. A member of the First Presbyterian church, he was a trustee for more than half a century.

He was a 32\super nd\nosupersub degree Mason, a member of Lewisburg Charity Lodge, the Williamsport Con Consistory, Irem Temple Shrine of Wilkes-Barre, the Knights Templars of Sunbury and the Milton Elks.

Surviving are his wife, the former Susan Dunlap, a daughter Mrs. Albert Watson, Governor's Island, N.Y., a sister Mrs. Harry W. Chamberlain, Milton, and two grandsons.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the residence with his pastor the Rev. Peter I. Westra, officiating. Burial will be in Lewisburg Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

John Walls Bucher, cashier of the Lewisburg National bank, and Miss Susan Matilda Dunlap, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Francis Dunlap, of Manheim, were united in marriage on Thursday evening at 7 o'clock. The knot was tied in St. Paul's Episcopal church at Manheim. Mrs. Harry W. Chamberlin of Milton, only sister of the bridegroom, acted as matron of honor, her other attendant being Miss Nancy Comfort, of Philadelphia. Abbott G. Bucher acted as best man and Hon. Edgar R. Kless, of Williamsport, and Charles W. Clement, Esq., of Sunbury as ushers.
