1. Fact: HIs biological father was William Addison Beecher, 2 May 1895, Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA. Harold's WW1 draft card states "Harold Beecher Rathburn" was born on 2 May 1895 in Pittsburgh, PA, where at age 4 his biological father William Addison Beecher (1857-1899) died on 7 May 1899.
His widowed mother, nee Minnie Agnes Lord, returned to her Illinois birthplace where the 1900 census recorded Minnie Beecher living alone in Chicago, jobless, and boarding in a multi-tenant building, while Harold was raised with surname Rathburn, that of his aunt Nellie Lord who married Charles Lincoln Rathburn.
On 18 Jun 1905 in DuPage, Illinois, Harold's mother Minnie married John Winter. In the 1910 census in John Winter's home was stepson Harold Rathburn.
On 27 Feb 1935 in Cook County, Illinois, Harold married Myrtle Blair (1897-1944) the daughter of Robert Blair and Elizabeth Lannon.

2. Census in 1910 in Chicago, Cook, IL. 6 The 1910 census recorded renting at 1503 N. Clark Street: John Winter, American Express clerk, 42, living wih wife Minnie A., 42; and stepson Harold B. Rothburn, 14. John and Minnie were married for 4 years and she had birthed 1 child by 1910. John, his parents, Minnie, and Harold's mother were born in Illinois. Minnie's parents were born in New York. Harold and his father were born in Pennsylvania. Also in the home is Eve I. Rathburn, roomer, single, age 36, foreman in shoe factory, who was born in Illinois, her father in New York, and mother in Ohio.

3. Census in 1920 in Chicago, Cook, IL. 7 The 1920 census recorded Harold Rathburn, stenographer at newspaper, 24, living with wife Lillian, 24, and son Harold Jr., 11 months old. Harold Sr. and his parents were born in Indiana (?), Lillian in Wisconsin an her parents in Germany, and Harold Jr. in Illinois.

4. Harold served in the military on 30 Sep 1921 in Saint Louis, St. Louis, MO. 3

9. Obituary: Chicago Tribune on 19 Oct 1957 in Chicago, Cook, IL. 5 Harold B. Rathburn, 4899 N. Hermitage av., died yesterday after a heart attack at Leland and Hermitage avs. He, 62, was a real estate broker with offices at 134 N. La Salle st. Survivors include a son, Robert; daughter, Mrs. Shirley Floback, and four grandchildren. Services will be held at 3 p. m. Monday in the chapel at 5303 N. Western av.
