Bucher, occupation "gentleman", with real estate valued at $20,000 making him quite wealthy, has his age appearing as 15 but this is obviously wrong since he is listed as the head of a family with wife Hannah, age 39. The children living with them are Mary H., 18; Rebecca P., 16; Robert A., 10; Ellin, 8; Ann, 6; Clenna M., 3; and Hannah, 1. Also living there is Charles Lee, 14, who is black. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. 3. Census in 1860 in Silver Spring Twp., Cumberland, PA. 4 George H. Bucher, age 62, appears as one of the richest people in the area with his real estate valued at $30,000. He has no occupation listed, apparently retired. Living with him is Hannah, 49; Robert A., 20, apprentice miller; Ellen, 18; Anna, 16; Clania? 13; Hannah, 11; George, 9. All were born in Pennsylvania. Non-family members living with them are John Burghart, 55, occupation hustler, born in Wurtemburg, Germany; and two born in Pennsylvania: Sarah Rawlings, 16; and Franny Miller, 12. The post office is New Ringston. 4. Census in 1870 in Silver Spring Twp., Cumberland, PA. 5 George H. Bucher, age 73, retired merchant, has land valued at $30,000 and possessions worth $6,000. In his household is Hannah, 59; Ellen, 28; Anna, 26; and Hannah, 21. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. The post office is New Kingston. Hannah married Honorable George Horter Bucher, son of Honorable John Jacob Bucher and Susanna Margaret Horter, on 19 May 1831.1 2 3 (Honorable George Horter Bucher was born on 15 Jun 1797 in Harrisburg, Dauphin, PA,1 2 4 5 died on 27 Nov 1884 in Mechanicsburg, Cumberland, PA 2 6 and was buried in Mechanicsburg: Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Cumberland, PA 2 6.).
