Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. Samuel is wealthy; his farm is worth $20,000.

On the same census page a few lines later is the household of Samuel's son Reuben Bucher, farmer, 29 with his wife Catharine, 27; Henry, 1; brothers Jacob Bucher, 28 and Samuel, 22, and Elizabeth Lead, 20. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania.

Living with him is wife Polly, 31 and Samuel Bucher, 7, who must be Jesse's nephew of brother Samuel H. since Jesse's wife never birthed any children according to her 1900 census record. Also with them are non-family members: Joseph Landis, 18; Jacob Frymyer, 27; and Harriet Stettler, 9.

Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. The post office is Reamstown.

4. Census in 1880 in Adamstown, Lancaster, PA. 18 The 1880 census recorded two Bucher families living as neighbors in Adamstown.

Henry Bucher, 30, was living with wife Sallie, 26; Willie, 4; Ammon, 2; and Carrie, 6 months. Henry's occupation is "works in hat factory." Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania.

Next door was Henry's father. Reuben Bucher, 59, widowed, was living with his daughter and sons: Mary, 21; Bans [Bens aka Benedict], 19; Clayton, 16; Reuben, 15; and William, 9. Everyone except William has an occupation: "works in hat factory". Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania.

The record shows they were married for 25 years and had six children, five of whom were still alive in 1900. Living with them: 22-year old son Ammon was born in Dec 1877 and was working as a cigar maker. Carrie was born Nov 1879 and worked as a hat trimmer, Bessie was born July 1886 and attended school, and Harry was born Sep 1890. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania.
