William's real estate is worth $500, and he is likely living on land given to him by his neighor and father-in-law, Henry Carpenter, occupation "none", 72, and his wife Harriett, 71, whose real estate is worth $400. 3. Henry was listed on a John Clark Sold to Henry Beher (Beecher) deed on 25 Jan 1850 in , Franklin, OH. 9 John Clark To Henry Beecher ~ This Indenture made this twenty their day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty by and between John Clark and Mary his wife of the County of Franklin and State of Ohio of the one part and Henry Beher of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth : that the said John Clark and Mary his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of Thirty five dollars to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge have given granted bargained sold released and conveyed and do by these presents give grant bargain sell release convey and confirm unto the said Henry Beecher and his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land situate and being in the County of Franklin in the State of Ohio designated as being a part of the Smith quarter of the first Township in the seventeenth Range in the United States Military tract, being a part of the tract deeded by Joseph Clark and Elizabeth his wife to the said John Clark as follows : Commencing at Southeast corner of the Shafer lot so called, being the lot deeded by John Clark and Mary his wife to said Shafer, thence East Seventy Seven feet to Benum's corner ; thence North with Benum's West line to the Section line ; thence West to Shafer's North East corner ; thence South on the Shafer's last line to the place of beginning, being all that ground lying between the Shafer lot and the Benum lot. To have and to hold the premises aforesaid with all the privileges and appurtenances the unto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said Henry Beher and unto his heirs and assigns forever. ? And the said John Clark and Mary his wife for themselves and for their heirs executors and administrators covenant and promise to and with the said Henry Beher his heirs and assigns that they the said John Clark and Mary his wife are lawfully seized of the premises aforesaid; that they have good right and lawful authority to sell and convey the same in manner aforesaid, and that the Premises are free and clear of and from all incumbrances whatever. And further that the said John Clark will well and truly warrant and defend the premises herein and hereby granted unto the said Henry Beher and to his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims and demands of all and every person whomsoever. 4. He was listed on a deed on 20 Sep 1853 in , Franklin, OH. 11 On 20 Sep 1853 Nicholas Keener and Katharine Keener his wife sold to Henry Bicher of the State of Ohio and County of Franklin the premises in the Town of Bridgeport, Franklin County, Lot Number 9 in said Town, as in the recorded plat of said town in Plat Book Number One Page Sixty One in the Franklin County Recorder's Office. 6. Henry was listed on a Henry Beecher and Hannah his wife of the county of Franklin state of Ohio sold to Nicholas Keener for $100 the land Henry had bought earlier from John Clark and Mary his wife. Deed on 20 Sep 1853 in , Franklin, OH. 12 7. Census in 1860 in Richland Twp., Miami, IN. 13 Henry Beecher, farmer, 37, was living with wife Catheren [sic], 41; son Adam, 8; and Rufes [sic], 3. Henry and wife were born in Pennsylania, Adam in Ohio, and Rufus in Indiana. Henry's real estate was worth $1,200 and personal estate $200. His neighbor is David Neiswender, 38. 8. He was listed on a deed on 27 Mar 1867 in Mifflin Twp., Franklin, OH. 15 Know all men by these presents that we, Henry Beecher and Catharine Beecher, wife of said Henry Beecher of the County of Miami and State of Indiana, in consideration of the sum of Twenty Seven Hundred Dollars ($2700) to us in hand paid by John H. Bender, do hereby Remise, Release and forever quit claim unto the said John H. Bender, his heirs and assigns forever, all our title, interest and estate, legal and equitable, in the following premises with the appurtenances situate in Mifflin Township and County of Franklin and State of Ohio and bounded as follows, to wit: 10. Census in 1870 in Richland Twp., Miami, IN. 3 The 1870 census recorded Henry Bucher [two handwritten e's look like a u so was transcribed wrong in census], 46, farmer, living with wife Catherine, 50; Adam, 18; and Rufus, 13. The parents were born in Pennsylvania, the children in Ohio. Henry's real estate was valued at $5,000. Post office was Chili. 11. Census in 1880 in Gahanna, Franklin, OH. 16 Henry Beecher, salon keeper, 56, was living with Catherine, 26; son Adam, barber, 28; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Beecher, 21; and step son George Occhey, 9. Everyone was born in Ohio except Henry in Pennsylvania, as were his parents. Henry's former wife's parents were from Germany. Son Adam's parents were from Pennsylvania, indicating that Catherine is Henry's second wife. Elizabeth's father was from West Virginia and mother from Ohio. 13. Fact: Probate Court, 25 May 1895, Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio, USA. 17 In the matter of the Estate of Charles Carpenter deceased Entry It appearing to the Court that in the settlement of the Estate of Charles Carpenter deceased, the heirs of Almira Allen, and the heirs of Henry Beecher, excepting Adam Beecher who is one of the heirs of Henry Beecher cannot be found after diligent search, it is therefore ordered and adjudged by the Court that the sum of Twenty-five and 98/100 Dollars be and the same is hereby forfeited and escheated to the State of Ohio in accordance with the statute in such made and provided. It is further ordered that said sum of Twenty-five and 98/100 Dollars be at once paid to the Treasurer of Franklin County Ohio, in full of said heir share and said Treasurers receipt be returned to this Court for record.
