An 18-year-old Myerstown man was killed and a Richland area woman seriously injured in a Friday night traffic accident on old Route 422 in Lebanon County.
State police at Jonestown said a heavy rain might have been a factor in the 10:30 p.m. death of Stanley S. Hoover, 18, of 54 Pineapple Road, Myerstown.
Marlene F. Bicher, 27, Richland R1 was listed in "poor" condition Saturday night at Reading Hospital. She suffered multiple trauma and is in intensive care.
Trooper Dan Zubritski said Hoover was traveling east in a 1981 Plymouth Reliant K, worth $8,000, that he purchased on Dec. 19. Miss Bicher was traveling west in a 1975 Toyota.
The accident happened about one mile east of Myerstown. Police said for some unknown reason the Hoover car veered into the westbound lane and struck the Bicher car head-on.
Zubritski said there was no evidence either car was speeding. Both cars were demolished at a total loss of $12,000.

Marlene Bicher and Nathan Machamer were married Saturday at 2 p.m. in Myerstown Grace Brethren Church. The Rev. Luke Kauffman officiated.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Bicher, Bethel, is a gradute of Tulpehocken High School.
The groom, son of Norman Machamer, 211 Poplar St., Lebanon, and the late Ethel Machamer, is a graduate of South Lebanon High School and Penn State University. He is employed by Sterling Drug Inc.
Attending the bride were Anna Lutz, honor attendant; and Sheila Horst, flower girl.
Attendants for the groom were Bruce Machamer, best man; David Machamer, and Paul Horst, ushers; and Jason Horst, ring bearer.
The reception was held in the church social hall. The couple will reside at 12 W. Park St., Myerstown.
