Jonas George, son of Jacob and Lydia (Woodring) George, was born in Lowhill Township. He assisted upon the farm and in the hotel. When not needed on the farm he attended the public school until 18 years of age. He then removed to Allentown and engaged in the tailoring business, then opened a restaurant on Hamilton Street, continuing until 1898, when his son Alfred, succeeded to the business. He married Caroline Newhard. Issue: Alfred George.

Jonas married Carolyn Newhard.
