1. Newspaper: Photo appeared in the Harrisburg Evening News, Harrisburg, Dauphin, PA. 6 A controversial photograph and text appeared in the Harrisburg Evening News, a clipped copy of which was found in a Bucher research folder on file at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania library in Philadelphia. The text is printed below and creates a create deal of mystery, for it is in great conflict with the genealogy of this Bucher family reported in William Henry Egle's Pennsylvania Genealogies. Here is the text, followed by a discussion of the conflicting information:

"From The Family Albums of Harrisburg:
The Late Mrs. Robert Bryson
Born in 1810 in the family home on Front and Market streets, Mrs. Bryson was Miss Susan D. Bucher, daughter of the late Judge John C. and Eleanor Isett Bucher. Her father was an associate judge of Dauphin County for twelve years and a Congressman. Mrs. Bryson's brother and sisters included: John C. Bucher, Jr., Miss Eleanor Bucher and Mrs. Richard H. Hummel (Eliza Bucher). The Brysons, who live for a number of years at 215 Walnut street, are survived by a daughter, Mrs. Henry Maris (Sue Bryson), of Philadelphia. Mrs. Bryson died on May 8, 1891."

Conflicting information:
According to Egle's Pennsylvania Genealogies, the Susanna Dorothea Bucher born in 1810 married Alexander Ray, and was the daughter of John Jacob Bucher (born 1764) and Susanna Margaret Hortter. Egle reports that a Susan Dorothy Bucher who married Robert Bryson was born in 1829 of John Conrad Bucher and Eleanor Isett, and had a twin sister, Eleanor.

The article appearing in the newspaper obviously confuses the two Dorothys, assigning the wrong 1810 birth year to the Dorothy who married Bryson. She obviously could not be born in 1810, since her parents were not married until 1820.
