Donald served in the Navy from 1944 - 1946. He was drafted. He was amember of Gettysburg United Methodist Church and graduated fromGettysburg High School. He was a tailor in Adams County for 48 years,and owned and operated the Hershey's Men's Shop in Gettysburg for 28years. He also worked as chief appraisal officer in the Ingeritance TaxOffice of Adams County before retiring in 1988. He served on the boardof directors of the National Bank of Arendtsville, Adams County SPCA,Capital Blue Cross and on the advisory board of Adams County NationalBank. He was a World War II veteran.

He was a member and past exalted ruler of the Gettysburg Elks, a charterand life member of Cashtown Fire Co., a member and past president ofCashtown Lion's Club, treasurer and member of S. & M Hunting Club, anactive member of the Democratic Party, a member of Albert J. Lentz Post202, American Legion, VFW Post 15, Adams County Fish Game Club, the 40 &8, the Buchanan Valley Rod & Gun Club and AARP Chapter 1776.

Donald married Miriam L. Bucher, daughter of Ernest G. Miller and Mabel Bucher, on 25 Mar 1929. (Miriam L. Bucher was born on 17 Dec 1908 in , , Pennsylvania, USA, died on 24 Aug 1971 in Hershey: Hershey Medical Center, Dauphin, PA and was buried in McKnightstown: Flohr's Lutheran Church, Adams, PA.)
