Market St., Schaefferstown, died Friday, September 8, 2006 at ManorCare Health Services, Lebanon. He was born March 1, 1921 in Reistville, a son of the late John and Lydia Strohm Bucher. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Schaefferstown. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired lineman from Met-Ed having worked for 31 years. He enjoyed gardening, doing odd-jobs for the neighbors, and was groundskeeper at Fountain Park in Schaefferstown. Surviving are wife Naomi L. Gibbel Stine Bucher of Schaefferstown; daughters Carol Messner of Lebanon and Ruth Ann spouse of Carl Sprout of White Cloud, Michigan; step-children Barry L. Stine, Elaine Ludwig and Carolyn Bender; sister Erma Blatt of Myerstown; grandchildren Joseph Bucher, Donald Messner, Eugene Messner, Denise Sprout, and Leighann Warren; and great grandsons Kiel and Patrick Bucher; 8 step grandchildren and 12 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Verna E. Gensemer Bucher on Jan. 2, 1988 and brothers Raymond, Ralph and Christian Bucher. Viewing is scheduled for Monday, September 11, 2006, from 7-9 p.m. at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon. Services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at 1:30 PM at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Schaefferstown, preceded by viewing at 12:30 PM. Burial will be in Iona United Methodist Church Cemetery.
