Mr. and Mrs. John J. "Jack" Morris, 2510 Hillside Drive, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Dec 27. They will celebrate with an open house from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Carousel Restaurant.
Jack Morris and Harriett Beecher were married Dec 26, 1942, at St. Vincent's Recotory, by the Rev. John P. Schall.
He is retired from Conrail Railroad, and she is retired from the First National Bank of Logansport.
The couple have three children, Jean Ann Klepinger, Logansport, John Michael, Rio Rancho, N. M., and James, Alexandria, Ky. They also have seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons. It is requrested that gifts be omitted.

Born Dec. 30, 1920, in Logansport, he was the son of John Patrick and Margaret Conway Morris.

On December 26, 1942, in Logansport, he was married to Harriett Leah Beecher, who preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 2005.

Jack went to work for the Pennsylvania Railroad in April 1941. He started in the car shop and interrupted his railroad employment to serve his country in the U.S. Army, transportation corps, during World War II. After the war he returned to the railroad where he was employed in the car shop and yard. In 1952 he was promoted to wreck foreman and later promoted to wreck master, a position in charge of clearing train derailments. Jack retired from Conrail in 1981.

In the U.S. Army Jack was a 1st Sergeant. He was a member of the VFW Post 3790.

While retired, he spent many long hours in his basement workshop on projects created for his family and friends. He and his wife, Harriett, also spent many hours camping and fishing.

Jack was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.

Surviving are sons, John M. (Mary Frances) Morris, Greenville, Texas, and James Patrick (Mary) Morris, Alexandria, Kentucky; daughter, Jean A. (Fred) Klepinger, Logansport; and a sister, Marguerite Kaczmarek, Brownsburg; grandchildren and great-grandchildren

Preceding Jack in death were a brother, Martin Morris, and a sister, Rita Kendall.

John married Harriett Leah Beecher, daughter of Clinton Everett Beecher and Grace Hazel Condon, on 26 Dec 1942 in Logansport, Cass, IN.^{1 2} (Harriett Leah Beecher was born on 14 Jun 1923 in Bethlehem Twp., Cass, IN,^{3 10 11 12} died on 19 Dec 2005 in Logansport, Cass, IN ^{3 10 11 12} and was buried on 22 Dec 2005 in Logansport: Mount Hope Cemetery, Cass, IN ^{10 12}.)
