Another name for Jacob was Jacob Bücher.3 FamilySearch ID: LD9P-RMW. Christening Notes: Sponsors were Abraham Rek and Margaret. The birth date is in dispute, apparently because the handwriting is difficult to interpret in the church book. Edward Wright in his "Adams Co. Church Records of the Eighteenth Century" listed both dates as: Oct. 21, 1789 [Dec 21 1789?] bapt. Mar 28, 1790. The transcription of the church record book to the IGI was entered as Dec 21 1789. The latter is more likely; often children in the 1700's were baptized either 30 or 90 days after birth. Noted events in his life were: 1. He has conflicting birth information of 21 Oct 1789 and Straban Twp., Adams, PA. 5 2. Census in 1810 in Straban Twp., Adams, PA. 6 In the 1810 Census in Straban Township, the John Beaker household is listed with: 3. Newspaper: The Adams Sentinel, 18 Sep 1811, Gettysburg, Adams, PA. 7 CAUTION. Whereas I gave a note unto Jacob Beecher conditioned for the payment of 65 dollars, for a Mare, and as I conceive of myself defrauded in the purchase -- this is, therefore, to forewarn all persons from taking an assignment of of said note, as I am determined not to pay the same, unless compelled by law. 4. Census in 1820 in Straban Twp., Adams, PA. 8 John Beecher and sons Jacob, George, and David are listed as neighbors in the 1820 U.S. Census in Straban Township. 5. Census in 1840 in Straban Twp., Adams, PA. 11 Jacob Jr. and Jacob Sr. appear next to each other in the 1840 Census. In the household of Jacob Jr.: 8. Census in 1850 in Straban Twp., Adams, PA. 12 Jacob Bucher Jr., farmer, 47, was living with his children: Samuel, 24; Henry, 21; Elizabeth, 19; Jacob, 16; Maryan, 14; Jesse, 10.
