Miller, a child by the decedent's second wife, and other heirs, the Register of Wills on Saturday rendered his decision as follows:
"Taking all other facts into consideration the Register is clearly of the opinion that although Mr. Miller enjoys a statutory preference as son, over his elder half-sister, he has not been shown to be a proper person to be intrusted with the administration of the estate, and letters of administration on the estate of Frederick H. Miller, are accordingly awarded to Mrs. Sarah Gillam. For the same reason letters on the estate of Sarah Miller are awarded to Edwin O. Immel."

Death Of A Famous Old P. & R. Engineer

John L. Miller, one of the oldest and most prominent engineers of the P. & R. Railway Company, died of a complication of diseases at Reading, aged 74 years, 11 months and 26 days. Mr. Miller was in the employ of the company 57 years. Upwards of 32 years he was known as one of the most careful engineers ever in the P. & R. service. During his career he never met with a mishap. For 22 years he was engineer of the Ariel. During this time he was assigned to take General U. S. Grant and staff to Pottsville. In later years he desired to retire from engineering and became a machinist.

Miller, one of the oldest employes of the Reading railway company, died from a complication of diseases, superinduced by grip, at his home, 1022 Spruce street, on Monday morning, aged 74 years, 11 months and 26 days. Two daughters, Elizabeth, wife of Daniel J. Parker, and Sabilla, wife of Henry Odinot, of Philadelphia, remain, besides a sister, Mrs. Ellen Haslup, of New York.
When 18 years of age Mr. Miller entered the employ of the Reading company and remained there up to the time of his illness, in all almost sixty years. After finishing his apprenticeship he became fireman of a passenger engine. After becoming familiar with the road he was placed in charge of the Aeriel. After quitting the Aeriel he ran on the road as extra and afterward as regular engineer of passenger trains. Later he took out passenger engines for trial after they had been repaired.
