A very serious accident occurred on the Oxford road Sunday morning early. The car collided with a tree and killed Charles Robertson Beecher, of Catonsville, and wounded Miss Jane Shannahan and her brother Norman, of St. Michaels, son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman M. Shannahan. From the many reports circulated, it is said that the young folks in company with another young girl, attended a dance Saturday night. One of the girls had to be taken to Oxford, and it was on the way back that the car ran into a tree, demolishing the car and fatally injuring Beecher. Miss Shannahan was rushed to Emergency Hospital in a serious condition, where it was many cuts and bruises. At this writing her condition is much improved. Her brother, who is said was at the wheel of the car, suffered slight injuries. Mr. Beecher was the son of William Gordon Beecher, a well-known architect of Baltimore.
