Wrightsville, March 9 -- Charles C. Beecher, aged 74 years, son of the late Paris and Rebecca Beecher, died at 9 o'clock this morning at the county home from a complication of diseases. He was a former resident of this place.
Mr. Beecher was a Spanish War veteran, holding the rank of Second Lieutenant, Company I, Eight Regiment of Pennsylvania Infactry Volunteers. He enlisted April 28, 1898, at Wrightsville, under Caption John Drenning, for two years, and was mustered into the United States government service May 12, 1898, at Mt. Gretna, by Major Thompson and was honorably discharged by readon of tender of resignation, caused by disability, November 9, 1898, at Camp Meade. He was a member of the local chapter, Captain Martin H. Smith camp, No. 67, U. S. W. V., of Wrightsville. Fraternally he belonged to the Susquehanna council, No. 89, Fraternal Patriotic Americans.
Mr. Beecher is survived by one brother, T. S. Beecher, 142 Jackson street, York. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Edward Etzweiler and Son funeral home, Wrightsville. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery.
