Allen R. Bamberger (Bammy), one of Myerstown's best known citizens, died suddenly Friday night. He was 76 and a resident of 27 E. Main Ave.
For a 40-year period he was employed as a tire repairman by the Bamberger tire firm, Lebanon, operated by his brothers. He retired five years ago. Bamberger was a collector of old guns and he was also well known as a gardener.
Well known and liked by both young and old of the community, Bamberger spent much of his retirement time at Shellhamer's service station in Myerstown.
His wife, the former Edna Bicher, died in June.
He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church; American Legion Post 55, Myerstown; the Central Penn Antique Arms Association and the Blue Mountain Muzzle Rifle League Assoc.

A World War I veteran, he served overseas with Battery D, 314th Field Artillery and Battery F, 151st Field Artillery.
He is survived by a daughter, Lucy, wife of J. Ray Bickel, Richland RD 1, and a son, Allen M. Bamberger, Myerstown.
Also surviving is a grand-daughter, Dona Bamberger; three brothers, Irvin E., Jonestown; Hiram, Broomall, Pa. and Earl, Sebring, Fla., and three sisters, Mrs. Stella Yeager, Lebanon; Mrs. Elva Thompson, Upper Darby, and Mrs. Ada Kean, Narberth. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. He was born in South Lebanon Township.


Allen married Edna May Bicher, daughter of Morris Henry Bicher and Clara Emma Spangler, on 14 May 1932 in Myerstown: Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lebanon, PA.1 2 (Edna May Bicher was born on 31 May 1899 in , Lebanon, PA 1 12, christened on 7 Dec 1899 in Myerstown: Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lebanon, PA,1 died on 6 Jun 1971 in Lebanon, Lebanon, PA 6 8 13 and was buried in Myerstown: New Union Cemetery, Lebanon, PA 13.)
