Census in 1860 in Mifflin Twp., Franklin, OH. 1 Peter Bigher [as recorded by census taker], farm laborer, 35, was living with wife Elizabeth, 30; Albert, 5; Sarah, 3; Sylvester, 1; Peter's brother John, farm laborer, 16; and Peter's sister Mary, 18, domestic. Peter was caring for them because their father had died in 1851.
Peter and his brother and sister were born in Pennsylvania, everyone else in Ohio. He had no real estate and his personal estates was worth $400, so as a farm laborer he was likely work on Christian's land mentioned below.
Next door is Peter's brother-in-law who married his sister Eliza: Chas Hyle [as recorded by census taker, should be Heyl], farmer, 37, living with Eliza, 30; Esther, 15; John F., 12; Georgeanna, 8; Lavina, 3; and Eliza, 6 months old on 20 Jul 1860 when the census was recorded. Everyone was born in Ohio except mother Eliza in Pennsylvania.
