Also with them is Mary Starret, 82. George's farm was worth $3,500. The next household is John Ridenour, farmer, 23, and his wife Anna, 21. His farm has no value so he is living on father George's land. George was born in Maryland, John in Ohio, and everyone else in Pennsylvania.

2. Census in 1860 in Mifflin Twp., Franklin, OH. 10 Peter Bigher [as recorded by census taker], farm laborer, 35, was living with wife Elizabeth, 30; Albert, 5; Sarah, 3; Sylvester, 1; Peter's brother John, farm laborer, 16; and Peter's sister Mary, 18, domestic. Peter was caring for them because their father had died in 1851.
Peter and his brother and sister were born in Pennsylvania, everyone else in Ohio. He had no real estate and his personal estates was worth $400, so as a farm laborer he was likely work on Christian's land mentioned below.

Also with them is Wm Rillenour, 35, physician. Peter was born in Pennsylvania, James and Emma in Indiana, and everyone else in Ohio. Peter's farm is worth $2,000 and personal estate $350. On the next census page is Elisabeth's sister, Mary C. (Ridenour) Bell with her husband Aaron Bell.

4. Census in 1880 in Arkansas City, Cowley, KS. 3 Peter Beecher, carpenter, 49, was living with wife Elizabeth, 55; son George A., carpenter, 25; Frank J., laborer, 19; Emma A., 16. Also with them: niece Serena M. Bell, 5; and brothers-in-law William S. Ridenour, physician, 46, and James Ridenour, jeweler merchant, 39. Peter and his parents were born in Pennsylvania. Frank, Emma, and Serena were born in Indiana. Everyone else was born in Ohio. Elizabeth, William and James Ridenour's father was from Maryland, their mother from Pennsylvania.

Bill, 10, and W. S. Ridenaur, 50, vineyardist. Peter was born in Pennsylvania, Elizabeth and W.S. in Ohio. [The column to indicate where they were living before Kansas is blank.].

7. Census in 1895 in Arkansas City, Cowley, KS. 14 Peter Beecher, 63, was with Elizabeth, 69; Emma, 31; and S. May Bell, 20. Peter was born in Pennsylvania, Elizabeth in Ohio, and the others in Indiana. Everyone's occupation was farmer and all came to Kansas from Iowa.

Next door is G. A. Beecher, 40; Sadie P., 33; Carl A., 5; and Maggie, 2. G.A. was born in Ohio, Sadie in Illinois, and the children in Kansas. G.A. was a carpenter who came from Iowa. Sadie came to Kansas from New Mexico.

Obituary: Arkansas City Daily Traveler: obituary of Mrs. Elizabeth Beecher on 17 Feb 1900 in Arkansas City, Cowley, KS. 8 DIED -- Thursday night at 10:30 o'clock, of old age, Mrs. Ellizabeth Beecher, aged 74 years. The funeral will be held from the residence of the deceased in West Bolton township tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock with interrment in Mercer cemetery. Mrs. Beecher has, with her husband, lived in this community for years and they were one of the oldest settlers. She was highly respected by all and has many friends who will mourn her death.

10. Obituary: Gate City Journal and Arkansas City Enquirer on 23 Feb 1900 in Arkansas City, Cowley, KS. DIED -- At her home in Bolton township, Thursday night, February 15th, Mrs. Elizabeth Beecher, aged 74 years, wife of Peter Beecher. The funeral took place at the family residence on Sunday, at 2 o'clock, with interment in Mercer cemetery. Mrs. Beecher has been a resident of this locality for many years, and was a lady held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. the heart-felt sympathy of the friends is extended to the aged husaband and family.

George, third son of Mathias and Catherine Ridenour, born 1792, died 1865, aged 73 years. Born at Hagerstown, Md., a farmer by occupation. He lived on Big Walnut Creek, Franklin county, Ohio, died at Invood, Ind. He married Mary Sterrett. She died in 1856. They were the parents of nine children: Daniel; John, born 1830, died 1864; Elizabeth, died 1899; George, born April 26, 1829, died Nov. 2, 1898; David, born 1831, died 1900, aged 69 years; William; Reuben, born 1838, died 1859, aged 21 years; James, died 1893; Mary, died 1885.
Elizabeth, daughter of George Ridenour, married Peter Beecher. She was the mother of three children: Albert, lviing in Ashton, Kansas, R. F. D.; Frank, living a 703 South C St., Arkansas City, Kansas; Emma, living in Arkansas City, Kansas, R. F. D.
Albert Beecher, son of Elizabeth, married, two children: Carl Albert, Maggie.


Elizabeth married Peter J. Beecher, son of John G. Bicher and Sarah Elizabeth Sands, on 12 Feb 1854 in , Franklin, Ohio, United States.1 (Peter J.
