Obituary: John Booher 1818-1893: John Booher, whose death at the age of 75 years, 2 months, and ? days occurred on Tuesday, September 5, as chronicled in these columns last week, was born June 12, 1818 on the farm where he had lived and died. He was the son of John and Barbara Booher. His father and his father's father lived on the same farm so that the farm has been known as the Booher farm for at least a century. Mr. Booher never lived anywhere else during his almost four score years of life than on that farm. On the death of his father he succeeded him in the management, and finally in the proprietorship of the farm. The deceased was twice married. In his twenty-eight year, on March ?, 1846, he married Miss Eliza Jane Ricketts, who lived but a few years. Only one child of this marriage survives, namely, John Emory Booher, now of Harrisburg. On February 28, 1859 Mr. Booher married Miss Eliza Ort, who together with six children - not including Emory, already named-survives him. These are-Ashbury C., William Ambrose, George Albert, Franklin Forest, ? Meldon, and Ernest Luther. The first named resides in Philadelphia, the others have always remained at the old home. Mr. Booher was throughout his long life a positive, earnest, enthusiastic Christian, so kindly and cheerful with all, that he had the respect and esteem of all classes. At the early age of fourteen he united with The Methodist Episcopal church, and continued in that communion during more than sixty-one years, until his death.
