Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Beacher, Pottsville, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 15. They were married May 15, 1940 in Saint Clair Bethlehem Baptist Church Parsonage by the Rev. T.D. Morris. The couple have three children: Ruthann Faust, Coal Township; Bemeda Dougherty, Pottsville; and Patricia Cole, Enterprise, Ala. They also have six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Mr. Beacher is the son of the late Harry and Anna Martin Beacher, formerly of Saint Clair. Mrs. Beacher is the former Berneda Purcell.

Born in Diener's Hill, Sept. 5, 1919, she was a daughter of the late John E. and Louisa May Kelly Purcell. She attended Saint Clair High School.

She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Saint Clair, where she was a member of the Antican't Sunday School class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Beacher, in 2000; two sisters, Thelma Gorman and Mary Purcell; a brother, John Purcell.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Surviving are three daughters, Ruthann, wife of Edward Faust, Coal Township, Berneda Dougherty, Pottsville, and Patricia, wife of Robert Cole, Enterprise, Ala.; six grandchildren, Cheri, Jeff, Mark, Harold, Douglas and Lee; 11 great-grandchildren; her great-grand dog, Martha Rose; nieces and nephews.

Religious services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at James H. Evans Funeral Home Inc., Saint Clair, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Santucci officiating. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Saint Clair. Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
