Beecher on 11 Oct 2012 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA. 4 Helen Rhae (Zimmerman) Beecher, 89, of Cabot, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, in Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Jefferson Township. She was born May 24, 1923, in Allegheny Township, a daughter of the late John D. Zimmerman and Hazel M. (Kerr) Zimmerman. A homemaker, she was formerly employed by West Leechburg Works of Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation for four years. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leechburg. She was the former president of the Lutheran Church Women of her church, former Sunday school teacher and choir member of her church and a life member of the Leechburg Area Museum and Historical Society and the Allegheny Kiski Historical Society of Tarentum. She was active in the PTA at the Kiski Area High School, a former Brownie leader in Allegheny Township Girl Scouts, a cafeteria worker at the Weinels Building for Kiski Area High School, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Leechburg for many years and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Apollo. She enjoyed traveling, playing piano and organ and enjoyed archiving family history. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Glenn Beecher, who died Dec. 9, 2007; a daughter, Jennifer Foley; a brother, John J. Zimmerman; and sisters, Mary G. Pfeifer and a twin sister who died at birth. Survivors include her two sons, Mark K. (Ann) Beecher, of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Kevin G. Beecher, of Allegheny Township; a daughter, Christine A. (James, DVM) Wells, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Margaret (Earl) Martin, of Davidsonville, Md., Dorothy Bush, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Martha (Harold) Quayle, of Rockville, Md. There will be no public visitation. Funeral ceremonies will be held at the convenience of her family.


Helen married Howard Glenn Beecher, son of Charles Ward Beecher and Goldie Viola Riggle. (Howard Glenn Beecher was born on 2 Apr 1922 in Leechburg, Armstrong, PA,5 6 died on 9 Dec 2007 in Cabot, Butler, PA 1 6 7 and was buried in Bagdad: Brookland Cemetery, Westmoreland, PA 6.)
