1. Census in 1940 in Wheeling, Ohio, WV. ³ The 1940 census recorded renting a house for $22.50 a month at 405 South York Street in Wheeling: Cyrus Cook, assistant manager of Tea Co. (grocery), 31, living with wife Pauline, 31, and daughters Shirley, 9, and Beverly, 7. Cyrus was born in Kentucky, Pauline in Indiana, and the girls in Illinois.
In 1935 they lived in Elkhart, Indiana.

2. Obituary: The News-Press on 25 Dec 2011 in Fort Myers, Lee, FL. ² Shirley Jane Penrod, 81, of Fort Myers and formerly of Elkhart, Indiana passed away peacefully on Christmas Day at Hope Hospice House in Fort Myers.
Shirley is survived by Thomas Penrod, her loving and devoted husband of 45 years. Six children also survive: Cheryl Kennedy; Linda Sweeney; Richard Berlick (Kathleen); Richard Penrod (Pemily); Barbara Walters (Glenn); and Jim Penrod. She has 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Beverly Walters (Roger). She was preceded in death by one daughter and three grandchildren.
Before retirement Shirley worked in several administrative assistant positions and also owned a garden center in Elkhart. She loved gardening, reading books and enjoying nature. Her love of family was evident and she will be greatl missed by all who were part of her life.
A short service celebrating Shirley's life will take place Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Hope Hospice House of Fort Myers at 6:00 pm. In liew of flowers Shirley's family requests that donations be made in her honor to Hope Hospice of Fort Myers.

Shirley married Richard George Berlick, son of George Henry Berlick and Johann "Jean" Kotwica, on 30 Jun 1947 in Rome City, Noble, IN, United States.¹ The marriage ended in divorce. (Richard George Berlick was born on 26 Aug 1929 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois, United States and died on 28 Mar 1994.)
