6. Obituary: Salisbury Evening Post: Died of Broken Heart. Follows Husband to Grave on 17 May 1909 in Salisbury, Rowan, NC. 9 Aged Woman Takes to Bed Day After Husband's Death and Dies of Grief.
Heartbroken and inconsolable over the death of her husband, Mrs. Samuel Beeker died at her home at Mill Bridge, nine miles west of Salisbury, Saturday night at 8 o'clock.
On last Tuesday a week ago Mr. Beeker died after a brief illness. Through he had long been in failing health the waywardness of a member of his family unquestionably crushed his spirit and at the age of 80 he laid aside life's working implements. On the day of his burial, Mrs. Beeker, who was two years his junior, took to her bed and never left it. There was no ailment present save the remorseless grief that took possession of her when her companion of 58 years was removed.
Surviving are three children and a number of grandchildren.


Ellen married Samuel Beeker, son of Henry Beeker Jr. and Susanna Grady. (Samuel Beeker was born on 14 Jul 1829 in , Davidson, NC,8 15 16 died on 4 May 1909 in Mill Bridge, Rowan, NC 8 16 17 and was buried on 5 May 1909 in Mill Bridge: Thyatira Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Rowan, NC 16 17.)
