He was a native of Davidson County. He was a retired carpenter. He was a member of Glenn Raven Baptist Church. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Raven Baptist Church by the Rev. Bobby Fann and the Rev. Melvin Beeker. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ettie Belle Poplin Beeker; two sons, John Wayne Beeker and Marvin Beeker, both of Burlington; two daughters, Mrs. Mary B. Downs of Hickory and Mrs. Margaret Lois Thompson of Graham; a brother, Glen B. Beeker of Lexington; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Snider of Lexington; and seven grandchildren. The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home.
