Newspaper: The Progressive Farmer:, 1 May 1894, Winston-Salem, Forsyth, NC, USA. 17 People who went early to Sandy Creek church in Tyro township last Sunday found a gallows standing a short distance from the church door, and a mound near bv made to resemble a grave, with a headboard bearing this inscription: "Sacred to the memory of Charles Beeker." The perpetrators of the outrage are unknown ; likewise the object of it, says the Lexington Dispatch.
