Census in 1900 in Lebanon, Lebanon, PA. ¹ The 1900 census recorded at 413 Walnut Street: Ellen Stains, widow, 39, born Nov 1861, living as a boarder in the household of Margaret Hoffman, widow, 75, born Dec 1825, and her son Thomas, single, 41, Dec 1859, cripple. With Ellen are her children: Florence Stains, 18, Feb 1882; Albert Stains, 17, Sep 1883; Frederick Stains, 14, Jan 1886; Paul Stains, 11, Feb 1889; and Sadie Stains, 9, Feb 1891. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania except Ellen's father was born in Germany. Ellen had birthed 7 children by 1900 and 5 were alive that year.

Albert Stains, son of Mrs. Ellen Stains, 421 Walnut street, left Monday afternoon for Gridley, Butte county, California, where he has secured a situation as a night clerk in the Pacific hotel, of which his uncle, Fred. Fink, is proprietor. The young man several years ago lost his left arm by having it caught in a bone machine and was unable to do any work. He will arrive at his destination next Saturday night.
