  Birth Notes:

From the bible of Wilhelm Bicher: Sarah Biecher was born on the 24th of March 1845 and received the Sacred Baptism from the Reverend Ernst. The parents were the sponsors.

Noted events in her life were:

1. Census in 1850 in Lebanon, Lebanon, PA. 4 William Bicher, age 39, tinner, is living with Susanna, 38; John, 19, shoemaker; William, 17, tinner; Elizabeth, 10; Emelia, 7; Sarah, 5; Emanuel, 2; and Mary Bicher, 70, who we presume is William's mother, nee Michal. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. Their neighbors are Felix Good, 70, and David Carmany, 56.
[Note: Most census indexes list Bicker, not Bicher; the census taker's handwriting can easily be mistaken.].

2. Census in 1860 in Lebanon, Lebanon, PA. 3 William Biecher, age 50, appears in the 1860 Census in Lebanon living with his wife, Susan, age 48; Amelia, 17; Sarah, 14; Emanuel, 12; George, 4; and Mary, 79. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. William is employed as a tinsmith.

3. Obituary: Lebanon Daily News: deaths of Sarah Beicher and Mrs. J. E. Beicher (nee Kimmel) on 22 Feb 1879 in Lebanon, Lebanon, PA. 6 Miss Sarah Beicher, daughter of George Beicher [note: should be William], deceased, who had been ill for only three days, died Friday night. She was aged 30 years. Her niece, Mrs. J. E. Beicher, nee Kimmel, hearing of her illness, visited her Friday evening and at a reasonable hour returned home, took off her wearing apparel, when soon after she fell in a swoon to the floor, and died soon thereafter. Miss Biecher, who was sick with breast fever, had been suffering with a felon on one of her fingers which she picked with a pin and this aggravated it that her whole system became poisoned thereby from the effects of which she died. The arm was black from the elbow down to the hand and she suffered intensely during her last hours. The cause of her niece's death was heart disease.

4. Obituary: Lebanon Daily News: Died from the Effects of a Felon on 24 Feb 1879 in Lebanon, Lebanon, PA. 7 We stated incorrectly on Saturday afternoon that Miss Sarah Beicher died of breast fever. That she suffered from this fever is correct, but in stating that it was the direct cause of her death we erred. The young lady had been suffering with a felon on one of her fingers which she picked with a pin, and this so aggravated it that the whole system became poisoned thereby. The arm was black from the elbow down to the hand, and the poor girl suffered intensely. She was the main support of aged parents.

5. Obituary: Lebanon Daily News: "The funeral of Miss Sarah Biecher took place this morning and was largely attended by relatives and sympathizing friends." on 26 Feb 1879 in Lebanon, Lebanon, PA. 8

6. Obituary: The Patriot: death of Miss Sarah Beicher on 26 Feb 1879 in Harrisburg, Dauphin, PA. 9 On last Friday night, says the Lebanon Times, Miss Sarah Beicher, aged 30 years, and residing in Weidman's addition, died suddenly while sitting in a chair. Just as she died and fell from the chair, her neice, Mrs. J. E. Beicher (nee Kimmel), living in the same neighborhood, called in, and the shock so affected her that in about 10 minutes afterward, upon her return home, she too fell to the floor in a swoon and died.

7. Obituary: Reading Times: "Miss Sallie Biecher, of Lebanon, died recently in that borough aged about thrity years. She had relatives and friends in this city to whom her early demise is especially saddening." on 1 Mar 1879 in Reading, Berks, PA. 10
