Sheaffer, 78, of 15 Forge Road, Boiling Springs, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, in the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle. Born May 21, 1925, in Boiling Springs, he was a son of the late Mervin E. Sheaffer and Kathryn E. Donnelly Sheaffer.

He was a leading foreman for the Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Mechanicsburg, for 26 years before retiring in 1972. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps and was a member of the VFW Post 477 and the American Legion Post 101, both of Carlisle. He attended Boiling Springs United Methodist Church.

Mr. Sheaffer is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruby B. Dromgold Sheaffer; one son, Kirby L. Sheaffer of Boiling Springs; one brother, Mervin J. Sheaffer of Dillsburg; two sisters, Miriam E. Bowers of Boiling Springs and Lois B. Hughes of New Jersey; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth E. Weakley of Etters.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Boiling Springs, with the Rev. Carolyn S. DeStephano officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Cremation Society of Pennsylvania.
