"Doc" Bicher Jr., Ph.D., 83, a lifelong resident of Hackensack who also maintained a home in Normandy Beach for 40 years, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Trinity Church, Hackensack, after the funeral from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union St., Hackensack.
Dr. Bicher died Tuesday at his home in Normandy Beach.
He was a photo products chemical engineer for DuPont Corp., Parlin, for 40 years before retiring in 1985.
Dr. Bicher earned a bachelor of science degree from Villanova University and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
He was a Eucharistic minister at St. Bonaventure's Church, Lavallette, and a member of Holy Name Society at both St. Bonaventure's Church and Holy Trinity Church, Hackensack.
He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 8415, Seaside Park, and the Elks Lodge 658, Hackensack, and was a fourth degree member of the Bishop O'Connor General Assembly, Teaneck. A scoutmaster for 25 years for Boy Scout Troop 5, Hackensack, Dr. Bicher was the second member of the troop to receive an Eagle Award.
Surviving are sons, Leonard, Thomas and Richard; a daughter, Barbara Williams; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.


Leo married Helen Marcella Jasaitis. (Helen Marcella Jasaitis was born in 1919 in Grand Rapids, Kent, MI 4 and died on 3 Sep 1991 in Long Beach, Ocean, NJ 4 5.)
