Also in the home is Ella Martin, daughter, 21. Joseph was born in Darms (perhaps Darmstadt? above it is wrriten Her perhaps Hessen? ) and his parents in Luxembourg ( see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Luxembourg ). Betsey and her parents were born in Maine. The children were born in Wisconsin and their father in Luxembourg and mother in Maine.

2. Newspaper: Iowa County Democrat: Joseph Beecher's Arm Amputated, 12 Aug 1887, Mineral Point, Iowa, WI. 3 Fred Beecher, son of Joseph Beecher of the town of Waldwick, had his left arm amputated on Wednesday. Some time ago young Beecher who is about 18 years of age, after being overheated in the harvest field took a bath in cold spring water, and shortly thereafter had an attack of rheumatism. His left arm became very sore and finally erysipelas set in rendering amputation necessary. The operation we understand was performed by Dr. Cutler, of Dodgeville.
