1. Census in 1880 in Waldwick, Iowa, WI, USA. 4 The 1880 census recorded Joseph Beacher [sic], farmer, 54, living with wife Betsey, 49; Henry W., 14; William F., 9; Otto Bismark, 5. Also in the home is Ella Martin, daughter, 21. Joseph was born in Darms (perhaps Darmstadt? above it is wrriten Her perhaps Hessen? ) and his parents in Luxembourg ( see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Luxembourg ). Betsey and her parents were born in Maine. The children were born in Wisconsin and their father in Luxembourg and mother in Maine.

Newspaper: Iowa County Democrat: Local News, 12 Aug 1897, Mineral Point, Iowa, WI, USA. 5 Mrs. Joseph Beecher of the town of Waldwick, returned on Tuesday evening from and extended visit with relatives in California. She met Hon. W. J. Bryan on his recent far western tour; and she reports that his followers wwho everywhere hailed him as the next President of the United States, are very much in evidence in the Golden State. Upon meeting the great advocate of free silver coinage, Mrs. Beecher told him that her husband and six sons voted for him and that they were still true to the cause.

Joseph and Betsy were married for 35 years and she had birthed 12 children, 11 alive in 1900. Otto and Nellie were married 4 years and she had birthed 2 children by 1900, both alive. Joseph immigrated in 1850 and was naturalized. Joseph and his parents were born in Germany. Betsy and her parents were born in Maine. Otto was born in Wisconsin, his father in Germany and mother in Maine. Nellie and her parents were born in English Canada, and her children in Wisconsin.

Newspaper: Granville Herald: obituary of Grandma Beecher, 24 Aug 1922, Granville, McHenry, ND, USA. 2 Grandma Beecher, one of the best known and aged pioneer women of this district, passed away Saturday night, at the home of her son, Ward Beecher, with whom she had lived for the past year. She was ill for many months and death was welcomed as a release and a reward. She was over 91 years of age and besides Ward she leaves Charles Martin of Granville, and son Otto living at Williston. There are many of her descendants living in this community. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon at the Congregational church by the Rev. H.C. Crellin.
