1. Census in 1870 in Manheim Twp., York, PA. 6 The 1870 census recorded Noah Becker [sic], painter, 24, living with wife Margaret, 25, and son John, 2. Everyone was born in Pennsylvania. Noah had no real estate value and his personal estate was worth $170. The post office was Xenia, a place name which no longer exists but in the 1870's was a village and the only post office in Manheim Township shown in the 1876 atlas map of York County.

2. Census in 1880 in Election District 6, Baltimore County, MD, USA. 7 The 1880 census recorded John Beeker, laborer works on farm, age 12, living in the household headed by Wm. McCullough, farmer, 72, and his wife Nancy, 65, and their daughter Serena, 30; son William T., works on farm, 27; and daughter-in-law Catherine McCullough, 23. John and his mother were born in Maryland, and his father in Pennsylvania. On the same census page is the family of Zachariah Alban Jr., age 50, and researchers should note his daughter, Rebecca Jean Alban, married James Robert Bull and they were the parents of Mamie Bull (1881-1948) who married John Henry Beeker's brother, James Christopher Beeker. Also on the previous page is Thomas Bull, age 38, a brother of James Robert Bull.

3. Census in 1900 in Election District 7, Baltimore County, MD, USA. 8 The 1900 census recorded renting a home: John H. Beaker, farmer, 32, born Jul 1868, living with wife Lillie P., 31, Sep 1869; and children: Harvey P., 11, Jun 1889; Elsie M., 9, Dec 1891; Bessie V., 7, Apr 1893; Charles R., 5, Oct 1895; Nancy M., 2, Jun 1898; and servant John S. Gruel, 14, whose parents are living next door. John and his father were born in Pennsylvania and his mother in Maryland. Lillie, her parents, and all children were born in Maryland. John and Lillie were married for 11 years and she had birthed 5 children by 1900, all alive that year.

The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company was sued for $10,000 damages in the City Court yesterday by John Beeker, a teamster, for injuries received by him March 21. The declaration states that Beeker was riding a mule whose hoofs became caught in the railroad tracks on Martin street, throwing both the driver and the animal. The suit was brought through William H. Lawrence and Frank V. Moale, attorneys.

Everyone and their parents were born in Maryland, except John's father in Pennsylvania. John and Lillie were married for 22 years and she had birthed 10 children, 6 were alive in 1910. Harvey and Ida were married for 2 years and had 1 child.

Family Of John Beeker Made Ill By Eating Heat-Tainted Meat.

Roast beef, tainted by the heat, poisoned John Beeker, of 708 Carwell avenue, and five members of his family. His wife and youngest daughter, Mamie, 7 years old, were removed to St. Luke's Hospital in a critical condition. The other victims, however, are slowly recovering at their home. All were taken ill Sunday night shortly after supper. Dr. Arthur Davies, 3300 Chestnut avenue, declared the family were suffering with ptomaine poisoning.

John and his parents were born in Pennsylvania. All others, and Lily and Stanley's parents, were born in Maryland. Nancy, Mamie, and Ruth's father was born in Pennsylania and mother in Maryland. Also in the home were two boarders: Clarence Bailey, 18, and William Windsor, 19, who worked in a ship yard and were born in Virginia.

8. Census in 1930 in Baltimore, Baltimore, MD. 13 The 1930 census recorded owning a $2800 home at 828 W. 34th Street: John H. Beeker, occupation "practical man confirments", 63, living with wife Lily, sales clerk in general store, 60. John married Lily when he was 21 years old. John and his parents were born in Pennsylvania. Lily and her parents were born in Maryland.

9. Census in 1940 in Baltimore, Baltimore, MD. 14 The 1940 census recorded owning a $2000 home at 828 W. 34th Street: John H. Beeker, watchman building trade, 72, living with wife Lillie, 65; daughter Mamie E. Miller, 35, and grandchildren Doris Miller, 15, and Betty Miller, 12. They lived in the same house in 1935.
