Born Nov. 21, 1919, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late Harvey Pleasant and Helen Smith Beeker. He was the husband of Ruth Schmitt Beeker, his wife of 59 years.
He had been a government worker and was retired from Edgewood Arsenal.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he served in England. He was a member of the Westminster Moose for many years. He was a member of St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Manchester.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Mary Barbara Weyandt of Huntingdon, Pa., Joan Anne Clurman of Spotsylvania, Va., Nancy M. Brockmeyer of Manchester, Jane Frances Daw of New Freedom, Pa., Patricia Ruth Sachs of Sparks, Paul Gerard Beeker of Parkville and Jennifer Jean Nilsen of Whitehall; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by grandson Patrick Donovan Jr.; sister Margaret Crawford; and brother Harvey Beeker.
A requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, 3071 Park Ave., Manchester, with the Rev. Michael Roach officiating. Interment will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, Timonium.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carroll Hospice, 95 Carroll St., Westminster, MD 21157.


Charles married Ruth Schmitt, daughter of John Marcus Schmitt and Emma Marie Rose. (Ruth Schmitt was born on 14 Jun 1923 in Baltimore, Baltimore, MD,1 died on 15 Dec 2010 in Baltimore, Baltimore, MD 1 and was buried on 20 Dec 2010 in Timonium: Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, Baltimore, MD 1.)
