BATTLEGROUND \emdash I. Floyd Garrott, 84, Battleground, retired Tippecanoe and White County banker, died at 5 p.m. Thursday at Comfort Nursing Home, Lafayette.
Born Jan. 2, 1887, in Battleground, he was the son of Isaac L. and Hanna McAffe Garrott. He was state senator from 1928 until 1948 during which time he served for several years as chairman of the budget committee.
Founder and former president of the Merchants National Bank of Monticello, he was also founder and president of the Fowler State Bank, president of the Battleground State Bank, president of the Merchants National Band of Lafayette and chairman of the board of the Fanners and State Bank at Brookston.
A graduate of Battleground High School and Purdue University in 1908, he was a member of Alpha Zeta Fraternity, Battleground United Methodist Church, IOOF, Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star of Battleground, Scottish Rite of Indianapolis K. P. and Elks of Lafayette and was a 50-year member of the Farm Bureau.
His first wife, the former Edith Baker, died in 1932, and his second wife, the former Cristena Miller, died in 1966.
Surviving are two sons, John F., Battleground; and Glen B., Brookston; one daughter, Mrs. Alice Gentry, Noblesville; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Battleground United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Battleground Cemetery.
Friends may call at the residence from 2 to 9 p.m Saturday and one hour before services at the church. Jackson Funeral Home, Delphi, is in charge of final rites.
