NOBLESV1LLE -- Alice Elizabeth Gentry, 86, of Noblesville died Friday, Sept 10, 1999, at Harbour Manor Care Center. Mrs. Gentry was the first Home Demonstration Agent in Hamilton County. She also operated a ceramic shop in her home for many vears. She was bom April 1, 1913, in Battle Ground, lnd., the daughter of I. Floyd Garrott and Edith Baker Garrott. She married Herbert Gentry on March 9, 1940. He survives. Mrs. Gentry graduated in 1935 from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in home economics. She was. a 4-H leader for more than 20 years. She also was a member of the Prairie Farmerettes, Hamilton Handicraft Club and Battle Ground Order of Eastern Star. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Nola Gentry, wife of Ned Derhammer of West Lafayette; and a brother, John Garrott of Battle Ground, lnd. She was preceded in death by a son, Don Gentry, in 1966, and a brother, Glenn Garrott. Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the funeral. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial will be in Perkinsville Cemetery in Perkinsville, lnd. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alice Gentry Scholarship Fund at the Indiana 4-H Foundation, 225 S. East St., Suite 760, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
