Obituary: Columbus Telegram: obituary of Mrs. Harry Pruitt on 23 Jan 1929 in Columbus, Platte, NE. 1 HUMPHREY -- Mrs. Harry Pruitt passed away at her home in Omaha Jan. 19, 1929 at the age of 78 years, five months and 15 days. Mary Jane Phillips was born at Hartford, la. Aug. 4, 1850. On Sept. 19, 1877 she was married to Harry Pruitt, who served during the Civil war and passed away Nov. 9, 1926. In 1881 they came to Nebraska, settling on what is still the Pruitt farm, 4 miles southeast of Humphrey and here reared their family of six children and overcame the hardships of pioneer life. After spending over a quarter of a century on this farm they retired and moved to Omaha on Jan. 20, 21 years ago and enjoyed a comfortable home for the past several years. Mrs. Pruitt was a devoted mother, kind neighbor and sincere friend. She possessed the ability to meet and master the problems of life as they came to her. The family left to mourn their mother's departure are Mrs. Abe Palmateer, of Tempe, Ariz., Mrs. Harvey Sharrar, of Long Beach, Cal., Mrs. Arthur Palmateer, Creston, Neb., Rev. Logan A. Pruitt, of Honolulu, P. I. Effie Pruitt, of Omaha, and Wade Pruitt, of Humphrey. She also leaves 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services have been arranged for Tuesday, Jan. 23 in Omaha.
