Activist for Dade firefighting groups
Mary Chrisman Bullock, 74, formerly of Kendall, a longtime activist with numerous Dade fire-fighting organizations, died Sunday at South Miami Hospital. After her husband, former Dade Fire Chief Milton Q. Bullock, retired in 1978, the couple divided their time between homes in Key Largo and Rosman N.C. After she married Milton Bullock in 1961, Mary Bullock assisted him with activities related to the Dade County Officers Association, the Professional Fire Fighters of Florida, the Florida State Fireman's Association, Dade County Fire Fighters Local 1403 and the City of Miami Fireman's Benevolent Association. She also was a member of the Girl Scout Council, a major in the Civil Air Patrol and a member of Beta Sigma Phi. "We were very young when our mother died and Mary came into our lives" said stepson Claude Bullock of Miami. "We feel that she was a wonderful mother to us. She gave her time to the family as well as the community." In addition to her husband and stepson, Bullock leaves four other stepsons: Scott Bullock of Miami, Christopher Bullock of Phoenix, David Bullock of Rio Rancho, N.M., Richard Bullock of Crownsville, Md., a sister Betty Young of Louisville and numerous grandchildren. Visitation begins at 9 am Saturday followed by a service at 1 1 am at Ahern-Plummer Funeral Home, 6001 Bird Rd. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to a favorite charity.
