Grandmother Catherine Essleman Bucher was born near Columbia, Penn 1 Sept 1798, died of typhoid fever 20 Dec 1863 in Lindleytown buried at Caton Center NY. She had one sister Mollie born 26 Sept 1800 who married Jas Reynolds born 11/23/1794.

Mrs. Essleman the mother of K & Molly Essleman rode from Columbia to Bath, Steuben Co N.Y. through the wilderness with her two children and some household treasures on the horse with her. Her husband had died and she left Katherine with her father's people. She married again and lived away, probably in Ohio. Katherine married Geo Bucher the son of the man from Germany.

She was from Southern New Jersey, French (?) Quakers [? is on the original]

2. Census in 1850 in Lindley, Steuben, NY. 4 Catharine Bucher, 52 was living with Elizabeth Bucher, 17; Esick A. Bucher, 14; James Bucher, 27; Mary Bucher, 23. Catharine was born in Pennsylvania, all others in New York.


Catherine married George Bucher, son of George Bucher and Elizabeth Kiblinger, on 1 Jun 1820.1 (George Bucher was born on 24 Mar 1792 in Middle Paxton Twp.: Fishing Creek, Dauphin, PA 1 2 3 5 6, christened in Harrisburg: Salem Reformed Church, Dauphin, PA,5 died on 11 Feb 1846 in Lindley, Steuben, NY 1 2 3 6 and was buried in Caton: Red School House Cemetery (Gillett Cemetery), Steuben, NY 2.)
