Joseph's real estate was valued at $25,000, one of the richest in Lancaster County, and his possessions worth $2,000. 4. Census in 1880 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster, PA. 11 The 1880 census recorded Joseph Bucher, farmer, 60, living with wife Kate, 58; Susan, 30; Henry, 18; Kate, 16; Barbara, 14. Also in the home was William Williams, 16. Everyone and their parents were born in Pennsylvania. 5. Obituary: Herald of Truth on 1 Mar 1894. 5 BUCHER.-On the 3d of Feb., 1894, near Litiz, Lancaster Co., Pa., Joseph Bucher, aged 73 years, 8 months and 13 days. He was confined to bed eight days, without any pain, from a touch of paralysis at the heart and tongue. He was a faithful member in the Mennonite church for over fifty two years. He leaves an aged bereaved widow, four sons and four daughters, thirty-nine grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren to mourn his departure, but still with a good hope to meet him in that happy home with Jesus. His remains were taken to the burial ground at Hess' meeting house on the 7th, where a very great number of friends and neighbors assembled to sympathize with the bereaved, and show their love and respect. Funeral services were conducted by B. Lehman, Bish. J.N. Brubaker and Bish. M. Rutt. Text, Psa. 37:37. Joseph married Anna Shenk, daughter of Joseph Shenk and Veronica Ober. (Anna Shenk was born on 27 Jan 1820 in , , PA,3 8 12 died on 1 Mar 1842 in , Lancaster, PA 8 12 and was buried in Warwick Twp.: Bomberger's Burial Ground, Lancaster, PA 12.) Joseph next married Catherine Snyder Risser, daughter of Christian Risser and Maria Longnecker Snyder. (Catherine Snyder Risser was born on 17 Sep 1821 in Elizabeth Twp., Lancaster, PA,4 9 13 14 died on 22 Aug 1901 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster, PA 9 14 and was buried in Lititz: Hess Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster, PA.) |
