Born in Lavelle, Feb. 15, 1918, she was the son of the late Charles and Florence Fertig Welker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Wetzel, in 1987; a son, Gerald C. Wetzel; and grandson, Gerald C. Wetzel Jr.

Surviving are a son, Donald Wetzel, Lavelle; grandchildren, Cheryl, her caregiver and wife of Richard Weikel, with whom she resided for the past 12 years, Ashland, Cindy, wife of Richard Price, Gowen City, Gail, wife of John Moore, Marlton, N.J., Wendy, wife of Albert McCain, Lancaster, Dawn, wife of Dennis Paczkoski, Coal Township, Brenda, wife of Carl Deeter, Germanville, and Debbie, wife of George Manhart, Mowry; and great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Brock Cemetery, Ashland. Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of arrangements.

Virginia married Carlos Wetzel. (Carlos Wetzel was born on 24 Aug 1918 in Ashland, Schuylkill, PA,⁴ died on 17 Oct 1987 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, PA ^{4 5} and was buried in Ashland: Brock Cemetery, Schuylkill, PA ^{4 5}.)
