Held Under Bond, Charged With the Theft of $350
-----
Two Greensboro men and a woman are in jail under $1,000 bond today, charged with the thefts of $350 from the person of E. L. Summers, after being arrested early today on a chain of evidence gathered by Captain L. R. Wrenn and W. T. Jennings of the city detective bureau.
The three are Dan Beeker, Mack Weatherly and Blanche Wike. Beeker and Blanche Wike were arrested in a Greensboro hotel Saturday night by Officer Jennings on a charge of violating the moral code. Released under bond, they are said to have added Weatherly's company to the party.
The three then set out on another J. Moore of Leaksville, who was merrymaking setto late Sunday. R. with Summers, and who was the owner of the $350, is said to have picked up the trio in his automobile. Near the county home, police said, the money, which it later developed belonged to Moore, was stolen from Summers.
When Beeker and Blanche Wike appeared for trial today, their description was so identical with that furnished by Summers and Moore, that officers searched them. Beeker had $166, it was said. Weatherly, arrested later on evidence furnished by Beeker and the woman, was found to have nearly $70 of the amount. The remainder of the sum has not been located. The three will probably be tried in the city court tomorrow.

Probably cause was found by Judge D. H. Collins in city court Tuesday in the case charging Dan Beeker and Mack Weatherly, white men, and their woman companion, Blanche Wike, with the theft of $350 from the person of another white man while they were out on an auto ride Sunday night. Beeker and the woman were bound over to Superior court under bonds of $1,000 each, while the bond for Weatherly's appearance was made $750.
Weatherly figured in another case called by the court, this being one charging him and A. L. Smothers and Elmer Biddy with possession of whisky. Both Weatherly and Smothers were given six months on the roads, but the sentences were suspended upon condition that they leave liquor alone and pay a fine of $25 and the costs. Biddy was found not guilty of the charge.
