Mrs. Henry J. Beeker, who prior to her marriage in McDonald Saturday, June 7, was Miss Ruth Bowden Greyard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Greyard. Mr. Beeker is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Beeker of Linwood. They will make their home in Lucama.

Going To Snow Hill
Beeker To Leave Rowland Schools After Five Years
The Robeson County Board of Education this morning received the resignation of Henry J. Beeker, principal of the Rowland schools for the past five years. Mr. Becker leaves the 18-teacher Rowland organization for Snow Hill in Greene county where he will head a faculty of 32.
Mr. Becker, 39, had six years of classroom work prior to service in the army during World War H. Following his discharge he came to Rowland as principal. He was educated at Campbell College, at Wake Forest College, at Appalachian State Teachers College (B. S.), and at Duke University where he took his M. A. degree. He is currently working on his doctorate at the University of North Carolina.
Headed Schoolmasters
Professionally he has headed the County Schoolmasters Club, the district Principals' Association, the Robeson unit of the N. C. Education Association; he has chairmaned the county N. S. E. A. planning council, and the committee for the revision of the school report system; he is a member of the board of control of the N. C. High School Athletic Association, a member of state N. C. E. A. committees, and a member of Phi Delta Kappa, national educational fraternity.
In Rowland, Mr. Beeker has been Baptist choir director, men's bible class teacher, American Legion Post adjutant, and commander, community civil defense director, a member of the recreation commission, a member of the Lions Club, and a director of Rowland Memorial Athletic Park.
Progress Summary
A summary of progress made at the school while under Mr. Becker's leadership includes:
Home making department, under direction! of Mrs. Al McKel- ar, renovated and improved.
Federal lunch program lunch room installed.
Audio-visual program developed. Two 16mm sound and several 35mm film strip projectors purchased. Film library of more than 200 films purchased.
Music department improved through services of Miss Jean Graham who has developed one of the most outstanding school choral groups in Eastern North Carolina.
Science department, under direction of Paul T. Byrum, improved from almost an absence of equipment to a well-equipped department with adequate materials or instruction in all sciences.
Commercial department added through the services of Mrs. Christine H. Bond. Several pupils rained in this department are now gainfully employed in the community.
New gymnasium has added to athletic program.
New elementary building contracted and equipped.
Agriculture department, under C. E. Morrison has been greatly improved through addition of new equipment and erection of Agriculture building.
School grounds have been greatly improved under the supervision of Mr. Morrison.
One teach added in both the elementary and high school.
School band begun under direction of H. T. McDuffie.
Elementary school promised accredited rating by N. C. Department of Public Instruction.

Mr. Henry Judson Beeker, 84, of 303 Lewis St. died Wednesday morning. Mr. Beeker was born in Davie County on February 8, 1912. He was a veteran of World War II. Also he served as principal of Four Oaks School from 1954-1976. Funeral is scheduled for Friday, 2 pm at First Baptist Church of Four Oaks. Burial will follow in the Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens. Surviving include: wife Ruth Greyard Beeker, daughter Christian Benschop of Garner, sons Henry J. Beeker Jr. of Raleigh, Richard Thomas Beeker of Lincolnton; six granddaughters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 717, Four Oaks, N.C. 27524. Visitation Thursday from 7-9 pm at Minshew Funeral Home.
