Prominent Chalmers Man Once Taught School,
Later a Farmer and Dredge Owner; In Poor Health for Two Years

Charles W. Beeker, of Chalmers, a former Tippecanoe county representative in the Indiana legislature, died at 10 o'clock Wednesday night at the Wabash Valley sanatarium. He had been in failing health for the past two years and had been in the sanatorium for the past month.

Mr. Beeker was the son of Daniel and Mary Beeker, deceased, and was born on the old Beeker farm near Battle Ground, May 6, 1854. He attended the old Battle Ground seminary, and after graduating he taught school for several years.

On November 30, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Noonie Carr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Carr. She died December 12, 1887. Two children were born to the union, Wilbur Beeker, of Lafayette, and Mrs. Earl Billings, of Chalmers. Both survive.

June 2, 1893, Mr. Beeker was united in marriage to Miss Anna C. Weigle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Weigle, of this city. She survives, also the following sisters, Mrs. Alice Baker, of Otterbein, Mrs. Flora Slocum, of West Lafayette, and Mrs. Jennie Nagel of Brookston. He is also survived by two grandsons, Junior and William Billings, of Chalmers.


Charles married Noonie Carr, daughter of John Price Carr and Catherine H. Price, on 30 Nov 1882 in , White, IN.1 (Noonie Carr was born on 2 Jul 1861 in Prairie Township, White, IN,15 died on 13 Dec 1887 in Battle Ground, Tippecanoe, IN 15 and was buried in Battle Ground: Pretty Prairie Cemetery, Tippecanoe, IN 15.)


Charles next married Anna Christianna Weigele, daughter of George Weigele and Margaretha Herzog, on 1 Jun 1893 in Lafayette, Tippecanoe, IN.2 3 (Anna Christianna Weigele was born on 20 Nov 1859 in Lafayette, Tippecanoe, IN,2 3 16 died on 4 Mar 1953 in West Lafayette, Tippecanoe, IN 3 16 and was buried on 6 Mar 1953 in Lafayette: Spring Vale Cemetery, Tippecanoe, IN 16.)
