BROOKSTON -- Miss Doris Beeker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Manford Beeker of Brookston, and William R. Frey, son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Frey of Blue Island, Ill., were married Sunday, Sept. 11, in the Federated church of Brookston. Rev. C A. Mitchell officiated at the double-ring ceremony before an altar decorated with baskets and bouquets of yellow and white gladioli, asters and chrysanthemums and flanked by palms and seven-branch candelabra. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Grace Cottrell, organist, played bridal music and accompanied Richard Luety who sang. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Mrs. John Mugg of Bluffton, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and the bridesmaids were Miss Caryl Frey of Blue Island, sister of the groom, and Miss Betty Beisel of Stockwell. Becky Jo Mugg, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Walter Silvestri of Blue Island was best man and Thomas Martin and Walter Keating of Chicago were ushers. All are fraternity brothers of the groom. A reception was held in the church dining room. The serving table was centered with a three-tiered wedding cake and yellow and green candles in crystal holders. Assisting in serving were Mrs. John Judd, Lafayette; Mrs. Jack Kellog, Monon; Mrs. Kendall Jones, Louisville and Mrs. Charles Miller, Mrs. Dale Owens and Mrs. Wilbur O. Harmon. The bride was graduated from Brookston high school and attended Lafayette Business college. She is a member of Psi Iota Xi sorority and is employed in the cashier's office at Purdue. The groom was graduated from Blue Island high school and received the bachelor's degree from Purdue in August. He is a member of Theta Chi fraternity. He is employed in the athletic ticket office at Purdue. The couple left on a wedding trip in the East.

Born on October 28, 1920 in Brookston, she was the daughter of the late Manford E. Beeker & Dena Coopman Beeker. She was a graduate of Brookston High School.

She married William R. Frey on September 11, 1949 in Brookston and he preceded her in death on February 27, 1979.

She retired from Purdue University Airport in 1983 where she worked in flight operations. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and the Circle One Group, PSI IOTA Sorority, & Eastern Star. She was an avid Purdue Boilermaker fan & loved the Chicago White Sox. She enjoyed playing euchre & liked candles.

Surviving are her children: Deborah "Debbie" A. Johnson of Lafayette, Diane Clark (husb: Steven) & Douglas Frey both of Indianapolis, 3 grandchildren: Lisa DeaKyne (husb: Brian), Kristen Swartzell (husb: Charles) & Stephanie Clark all of Indianapolis & 4 great-grandchildren: Matthew, Katie, Jamie & Nicholas DeaKyne all of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by a sister: Martha Mugg.
